Blu Marine Goes to Aid of Fire Damaged Passenger Ferry

Blu Marine has been appointed to carry out emergency repairs to a North Sea ferry recently damaged when a fire broke out during a sailing from North Shields, Newcastle to Amsterdam.

A team will travel to Gdansk, Poland this weekend (17th Jan), where the Danish owned King Seaways will go into dry dock for repairs.

Blu Marine’s Managing Director, Craig McCoo, believes it was the company’s ability to mobilise a team in a very short timescale which made it the obvious choice for the contract.

“We received the initial call from our Client last Friday and immediately put plans into place to send staff over to carry out a survey of the vessel and assess the extent of the damage the following day.  We were awarded the contract on Wednesday and the team is ready to travel to Gdansk this weekend.

“We have extensive experience completing projects on passenger ferries and cruise ships and have developed excellent relationships with our suppliers, all of which gave our client the confidence that we could complete the work to a high standard and within the necessary timescale.”

The work is expected to be completed within two weeks.
