HAL Amsterdam

Amsterdam was the fifth and the final ship for this round of HAL dry dockings. Again the vessel docked in the Grand Bahama Shipyard a day after Zaandam left the dock and the Blu Marine team were onboard already starting demolition works. The scope of works on the Amsterdam was much smaller and we had a small team onboard to carry out the refurbishment on all of the Passenger elevators, this being the 4th ship to receive these works by Blu Marine.

We developed and pre fabricated a new deckhead system. This is a single piece deckhead formed from aluminium and powder coated to a high finish. During fabrication we laser cut a perforated design uniformly in the centre panels to allow for the PA speakers to work correctly. We also pre wired and installed new LED lighting to the unit.
Once we have removed the existing deckhead panelling and lighting from the cab we then installed the supports to carry the new deckhead. We pull the cables through the cab ready connect to the existing power source and then using pre fabricated trims, powder coated in a colour match we trim out from the bulkhead to the deckhead. The other works included removing the existing bulkhead panels and recovering in a heavy contract leather. This quick fit system can also be installed in service with minimal disruption due to the pre fabrication works.
The Blu Marine team were onboard for 1 week to complete and left the dry docking half way through, after all the elevators were signed off with no snags.
