HAL Noordam
Holland America’s Noordam was successfully completed in April 2015 in Grand Bahamas shipyard. After getting approvals for our in-house designs we shipped 12 containers across to the Bahamas and set out to complete 8 public areas and flooring works across the ship.
We took a team of 120 personnel to complete the project within 9 days, beginning on the 9th April, we joined the ship in Fort Lauderdale before making the short trip into the drydock to begin all works on 10th April. The works included upholstery of loose and fixed seating, LED upgrades to lighting, ceramic tiling and flooring works as well as the installation of several units which had been manufactured in our Belfast joinery workshop. These items included new bulk head partitions, fixed furniture, window bays and low staging.
We had over 10,000m2 of carpeting and vinyl works to complete in the short time frame, this included all public areas and crew alleyways and involved using both day and night shift teams to complete screed repairs and the floor laying on time.
Overall the project was completed on time and all at HAL were pleased with the end result. As the Noordam left drydock, Zaandam took its place in Grand Bahamas Shipyard ready for the fourth phase of the HAL refits.
